Over 25 Years of Experience

Incorporated in 2006, The Sunroom Store Ltd. is owned and operated by Don Ankerstein, who has over 25 years of experience building sunrooms, deck and patio enclosures, siding and windows for customers throughout Alberta. Don’s industry experience began in 1984, when he served as a sales manager for a company in British Columbia that specialized in sunrooms. Dealing with Sheppards Building Materials’ products at that time. Dealing with the dampness of the British Columbia weather, Don gained invaluable learning experience during this time.

A Return to Alberta in 1986
Don moved back to his native Alberta in December 1986, and he returned to the siding business in 1990. Gaining experience through his previous customers’ requests, Don completed 12 sunrooms from 1998-2000, focusing on all-season sunrooms with thermally broken channel changers and double-glazed vinyl windows. Unfortunately, due to severe back problems from siding, Don was put out of the siding business in 2001.

Commercial Projects & Successful Sunroom Conversions
In 2001, Don began a career at Sky Tech Plastics, where he worked in sales and management for six years, while still helping to install acrylic sunrooms as a contract installer. Among the many projects he completed included a commercial skylight system that was successfully converted into a sunroom system. Along with the skylights and commercial work, he successfully sold and installed over 120 3 and 4-season sunrooms during this period.

Vast Knowledge to Help You Make Product Selections
To date, Don has installed over 350 sunrooms of all makes and models, which has given him usable amounts of knowledge to draw from concerning the products we use now. Don personally selects products and shows them to his customers to help them make better informed decisions about what they want and what will best fit their unique needs.
